Job Description:
As an Engineering Intern at Avalara, you will handle the registrations and filings for various licenses at all government levels, focusing on state-level sales tax registrations. This role requires quick learning and working independently in a dynamic environment, where attention to detail and strong communication skills are crucial.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- Strong attention to detail and precision.
- Proficiency with MS Office.
- 0 to 2 years of relevant experience.
- MBA in Finance is preferred.
- Knowledge of Sales Tax (VAT & Use Tax) is a plus.
- Experience with tracking tools like Salesforce & Atlassian Jira.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for interacting with external customers and internal teams.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare and file Sales & Use tax returns accurately and on time.
- Understand state rules and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Maintain high accuracy standards to avoid penalties and interest for clients.
- Meet SLAs and ensure timely registration.
- Communicate ongoing status and any challenges to the manager.
- Stay updated with trends and support production/accuracy goals.
- Identify and implement process improvements for efficiency.
- Plan and prepare various filings as required.
- Serve as the primary contact for customer queries via email and calls.
- Assist internal teams with technical issues and inquiries.
- Maintain accurate records and adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Be flexible with working hours, including weekends and holidays if needed.
