Job Description

As an Associate Software Engineer at Kaplan, you will play a key role in building a scalable learning platform using the latest technologies like Node.js, Angular 6+, Docker, AWS, LogEntries, and AppDynamics. Working within full-stack teams, you'll collaborate closely with designers, product managers, and other engineers to create products that delight our customers.


Minimum Requirements

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 1+ years of software development experience.
  • Proficiency in PHP with knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Experience with Node.js is a plus.
  • Understanding of API design and usage.
  • Experience with unit testing.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
  • Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases.
  • Understanding of web accessibility principles.
  • Passion for education and making a positive impact on learners.

In This Role, You Will

  • Work within fast-paced, agile engineering teams.
  • Design, prototype, and build user interfaces and frameworks with a platform mindset.
  • Utilize and expand Kaplan's design language and front-end component catalog, known as Design System.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, QA engineers, UX and design teams, and project managers.
  • Maintain high test coverage across unit, functional, and integration test suites.
  • Deploy systems regularly using our AWS-native continuous delivery pipeline.
  • Enhance documentation for processes and systems.
  • Troubleshoot existing systems and applications.
  • Stay updated on the latest web technologies and contribute to innovation at Kaplan.

Additional Information

  • Hybrid Schedule: 3 days remote, 2 days in the office.
  • 30-day notification period preferred.
